Care

Briner Veterinary Services provides veterinary care (medicine and surgery) to clients either through BVS’s own mobile clinic or as a locum to other registered veterinary facilities. This aspect of BVS focuses primarily on exotic animal medicine, a field in which the director, Dr Briner has a special interest however extends to include both domestic and wild animals. Using a dedicated mobile clinic, BVS also provides veterinary care to research projects in the field and conservation programs working with exotic animals and indigenous wildlife.

Conservation

Briner Veterinary Services provides registered conservation bodies with veterinary care and support in the treatment of indigenous animals afflicted by disease or trauma in the wild or in captivity via its mobile service. BVS also provides veterinary care to animals being rehabilitated and supports conservation and research efforts promoting the conservation of species. Briner Veterinary Services engages in community awareness and understanding programs involved in protecting species and maintaining a healthy balance between wildlife and humans. Briner Veterinary Services promotes a one health approach to veterinary medicine and the provision of veterinary care.

Research

Briner Veterinary Services provides veterinary services to research work in the field supporting conservation, rehabilitation and investigation of indigenous South African animals via a mobile clinic. In doing so BVS provides a platform to increase the understanding of indigenous animals, their life history and future as well as promote the well-being and conservation of these animals in order to help sustain the South African fauna. BVS provides these services to local and international research facilities and universities.

Education

Briner Veterinary Services provides courses, lectures and symposiums to other veterinarians and students in order to teach individuals about wildlife and exotic animal medicine. BVS can host local and international veterinary students to teach them about medicine, surgery and anesthetic protocols. BVS is devoted to supporting research to further the protection of South Africa’s animals, and thereby actively encourages education in the veterinary sciences.
